Levitation is one of the oldest and probably most effective tricks which has been used by people who wanted to look like they have some special abilities which others do not have.Although I believe that true floating could be achieved in certain circumstances, I think that this kind of trick has ceased to be effective long time ago. Actually, for the most of people, when they just hear the word "levitation" they know that the following part is a trick and nothing but the trick.
However, even if it is trick, it is not easy to achieve it, even when you trying to do that on photos.
Every kind of skill requires a lot of practice as well as this one: creating illusion photography of people who do look like they're floating.
David Blaine is one of those who have been working on developing such techniques for a longer time. He seems to be "an magician with the camera". Here you can see some of his best photos where some man and woman have been caught while they were levitating.
